XHTML Markup (W3c)
Royal Web Design uses XHTML
for markup. XHTML is the
successor to HTML - HTML is no
longer being developed, while
refinement of XHTML is ongoing.
As such, XHTML may be considered
by many to be the "current
version" of HTML, but it is a
separate, parallel standard; the
W3C continues to recommend the
use of either XHTML 1.1, XHTML
1.0, or HTML 4.01 for web
publishing.
Royal Web Design is written
using XHTML Strict, to allow for
greater control over documents
viewed in a variety of browsers
and other devices, i.e. cellular
phones and Braille devices,
which leads to better
accessibility and better
accessibility leads to more page
views.
It is our intention at Royal Web
Design
to ensure this website offers
maximum accessibility to all its
users. We aim for the site to
comply with all W3C Priority AA
guidelines, and the majority of
W3C Priority AAA guidelines.
Accessibility features include:
For those screen reader and
non-mouse users, you have the
option
to skip straight to the
content.
The site has been created with
a combination of XHTML and CSS.
All informational images
contain an ALT tag and
decorative images
are either
relegated to the CSS document or
have a null ALT
attribute.
All pages have valid HTML.
Links have been written to
make sense out of context. Where
this
has proved impossible the
title tag has been used to
expand on
their meaning. |

We hope that you're enjoying
using the features of this
website and are not experiencing
any problems. However, if you do
have difficulty viewing the
site, there are some things you
can do to make it easier.
You can change the settings of
your browser to better suit your
needs and use specially provided
keyboard shortcuts in case you
find it hard to use a mouse.
CSS Presentation
Our pages are written to utilise
CSS technology. A Cascading
Style Sheet allows you to change
the appearance of a web page
with ease. We use CSS for
maximum flexibility. You can
change the appearance of our
site to aid browsing by visiting
the Contrast Options page
Standards Compliant
Our web pages are standards
compliant and validate as valid
XHTML and CSS (using the W3C
validation tools). For more
